The Midnight Library Book Club Questions

A Book Club is always a good way to bond with those people who share your love of books, but occasionally the group needs a little prompting on discussion topics to get the conversation flowing.

Please find below a few ideas to get things started.

  1. What were you expecting from the book to start with? Did the book meet your expectations? If not, what was different?
  2. What were your initial impressions of the Library? What did you think about the Librarian?
  3. Which life did you think held the most promise as you were reading? Were there any that you would have day dreamed about yourself?
  4. What did you think of Nora’s un-lived lives? What would your un-lived lives look like if you were to visit the library?
  5. Does this remind you of any other stories you have read? Which ones? Why?
  6. What is the most important message that you took from this book?
  7. What are your feelings on the way that Nora viewed her life at the beginning and end of the book?
  8. Where do you hope the story takes Nora next?
  9. Who elses perspective do you think would have enhanced the book?
  10. How do you think this would translate into a film?
  11. Would you recommend this to any friends? Who? Why?
