It‘s been a year since Lottie’s fiance walked out, leaving her heartbroken. But things start to look up when she lands her dream job at a beautiful Lake District estate, with a handsome groundskeeper for a neighbour.
So when Lottie is asked to organise a last-minute Christmas wedding she can’t wait to get started. Until she meets the couple, and discovers that Connor, the man who broke her heart, is the groom-to-be.
As snow falls on the hills, can Lottie put aside her past to organise an unforgettable winter wedding? And will there be any festive magic left to bring Lottie the perfect Christmas she deserves?
I took this book home as part of my Library Haul, and snuggled up with it last week hoping for a bit of a stress-free, festive themed entertainment – It was exactly that. Connor, th Ex mentioned in the blurb is satisfyingly ridiculous, no complications there. The love interest is very clearly lined up, with a few cheeky twists thrown in for extra enjoyment, and Lottie herself is loveable, if a bit dim in places.
This book was highly enjoyable and did exactly what I wanted it to do for me – allowed me to escape reality for a few hours and settle into somebody elses drama. I would like to give it extra points for the running commentary on Trevor the labrador, and the red squirrel population of the Lake District. These things just gave me a little extra happy sprinkled liberally through the story. The supporting characters are generally lovely people, and I am toying with the idea of buying a copy of this book for myself to pop in my Christmas Book Box to get out again next year.
